About EduPix

Edupix.io

EduPix.io is a curated collection of images, animations, and illustrations relevant for use in education and in the development of open educational resources.

Why EduPix?

The EduPix is based on the idea that an open approach to educational resource development can help increase collaboration in the edTech community and avoid duplicating work that has already been done. Our focus is to help projects and programs maximize their resources — and ultimately their impact — by using open data, open-source technologies, and open educational building blocks.

Our mission is to help developers and non-technical content creators in the OER community to reuse objects across projects and initiatives. We provide:

  • an open search across 12 languages
  • an open API for programmatic access
  • a plug-in for WordPress to ensure that our curated resources are available for different user groups

EduPix is a spin-off project from the Global Digital Library (GDL) and contains images from a subset of the GDL books and games. In addition to GDL content, the EduPix collection contains objects provided by the Asia Foundation, Pratham Books, BookDash, African Storybooks, All Children Reading, USAID, the Norwegian Digital Learning Arena (NDLA), Holland Warchild, and Curious Learning. EduPix currently has 20.000+ images and illustrations. Our backlog of unpublished objects to vet for publication is currently at around 50.000.
